Coach Moriyasu Kazukazu (56) vowed to win the championship, saying, “In this tournament, we will aim to win the match in front of us, and we will focus on the results.”

He then said, “We were able to have players who were unable to call up before come and do our best to carry on activities. We would like to ask that this tournament be a great opportunity to help individual players grow and stimulate them. We also hope that the players will continue to grow even further, as they will improve the overall player base in the team at next year's World Cup.”

He also expressed his hopes, “I would like you to show through your play that the Japanese soccer player base is a large group of players that each individual can do in this tournament as a representative of the J League. I hope that this will be a stimulating force to make the J League more exciting after the tournament is over.”
