Nagashima Shigeo, the lifetime honorary manager of the Giants' army, passed away on June 3rd. Nikkan Sports Premium will start an irregular series called “Me and Nagashima-san,” in which Nagashima-san will be sharing his memories.
We will introduce Mr. memories that all over the world have. The first person to appear was Awakawa Hiroshi (85), who supported the end of his career. He is the one who supported the Giants during the V9 era as what we now call “bullpen catcher” from behind the scenes, but he was also a partner at the “Mountain Gomori” that Nagashima held in Onito, Izu. After the 1970 season was over. When Nagashima Shigeo asked him to go along with the mountain lodgings in Onito, Izu, Awakawa Hiroshi was confused. For baseball players, off-off time is a valuable time to be with their family. Awakawa, who had two cute girls, turned down Nagashima's invitation three times, prioritizing his family.
Then Mrs Akiko called and begged her to “help my master.” After being broken, Awakawa told Nagashima, “Well, I'll do it,” and Nagashima began to get angry. “So what is that? I'll take the top batter one more time. I'm trying to sacrifice my family for that, so what is that?”

Joined the company in 1988. He mainly covers professional baseball, and is responsible for Nippon Ham during his time in Tokyo, Yokohama Taiyo (now DeNA), and Nagashima Giants. In April this year, he returned to the field reporter for the first time in 20 years and is currently covering a wide range of interviews, not just baseball.
