On September 11th, just before the 16th round of the 2025 MotoGP, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., which is participating in the MotoGP, unveiled the YZR-M1 equipped with a V4 engine.
Until now, Yamaha has participated in the inline 4-cylinder engine, but has unveiled the prototype Yamaha YZR-M1 equipped with a V4 engine. This car will feature test rider Augusto Fernandez (Yamaha Factory Racing Test Team) taking part in the San Marino Grand Prix to run the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
Factory riders Fabio Quartaralo and Alex Rins will also be test-driven the new prototype again in a test to be held on the 15th, the day after the race.
All machines from other manufacturers are V4 engines, so from 2026 onwards all manufacturers will likely participate in MotoGP with V4 engines.
